About the Role

As an Accessories Development Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and validating vehicle accessories that enhance the functionality, aesthetics, and customer experience of our automotive products. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring compliance with standards, and delivering high-quality accessory solutions aligned with market demands. We are open to candidates who can work onsite from BYD's Sydney or Melbourne offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Accessory Development:
    • Coordinate and oversee accessory programs with suppliers and key engineering teams.
    • Liaise between engineering and aftersales teams to ensure accessories meet internal quality and durability standards.
    • Build and develop internal understanding of accessories and use cases.
  2. Market and Customer Insights:
    • Research market trends and customer feedback to identify accessory development opportunities.
    • Benchmark accessory offerings against competitors to ensure innovation and market leadership.
  3. Supplier and Vendor Coordination:
    • Work with suppliers to design and develop components and manufacturing solutions for accessories.
    • Oversee quality control and ensure vendor compliance with design specifications and standards.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and marketing teams to ensure accessories integrate seamlessly with vehicles.
    • Support product launches by providing technical expertise and ensuring accessory availability.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  2. Experience:
    • Proven experience in accessory development, automotive engineering, or a related role.
    • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, metal stamping, and 3D printing.
  3. Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and simulation tools.
    • Knowledge of material selection, product lifecycle management (PLM), and prototyping techniques.
    • Understanding of vehicle systems and accessory integration.
  4. Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in Chinese language would be an advantage.
