This role is based in Ulverstone in the NW of the state. The team is a multidisciplinary team consisting of Medical Officers, Nurses, Social Workers and consultation processes with Lived experience advocates. We work closely with the states Alcohol and/or Other Drugs (AOD) offices in Launceston and Hobart, delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
We provide advice and support to other agencies, consumers, families and friends. We are a voluntary organisation that bases care on harm minimisation principles.
The RoleThe position requires a registered nurse with significant Alcohol and Drug experience and a working knowledge of Pharmacotherapy. As part of the multidisciplinary team the position will provide high quality alcohol and drug services as per the agencies policies and procedures, legal requirements and professional competencies. Including consultation, education and treatment options for those with substance addiction particularly Opioid Dependency. There is an expectation of travel to provide outreach services, consultation and for education. There is oversight of the Pharmacotherapy team with direction and support from the team leader.
You will need- Extensive experience as a registered nurse with demonstrated clinical expertise in the contemporary treatment of complex clients, around substance use and/or mental health within a multidisciplinary team, including an understanding of opioid pharmacotherapy.
- Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary evidence-based practice used in the treatment and prevention of alcohol and other drug dependence, including alcohol and other drug assessment, the harm minimisation framework, interventions and prevention activities.
- Demonstrated well developed leadership, communication, consultation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. This includes the ability to develop comprehensive oral and written reports.

Details of appointmentPermanent, full time, day worker, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 28th September 2025
notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary$114,851 to $121,886 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
- Multi-disciplinary allowance may be applied

Desirable criteria- Minimum of 5 years full time equivalent post graduate experience in the area of specialist Alcohol and Drug services. Holds or is working towards tertiary qualification in the Alcohol and/or Other Drugs (AOD) field Holds or working toward tertiary qualification in the Mental Health field
