Contract Opportunity – VMware to Oracle KVM Migration Specialist
Sydney CBD | Immediate Start | Iconic Australian Organisation
We're seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer / Virtualisation Specialist to lead a critical migration project with one of Australia's most recognisable organisations.
You'll play a hands-on role in driving the migration of VMware workloads to Oracle KVM across a large enterprise environment. Expected 6 month engagement.
Project- Over 30 sites nationally
- Migration of ~300–360 VMs from VMware (vSphere / vCenter / ESXi) to Oracle KVM (Oracle Linux Virtualisation Manager)
- Each site built on 2-host clusters with shared storage
- Standardised design across all sites for repeatability and scale
- Proven background in VMware migrations (vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, clustering, HA/DRS)
- Strong knowledge of KVM-based virtualization (Oracle KVM / OLVM, libvirt, qemu-kvm)
- Hands-on use of virt-v2v or similar tools for VM conversion/migration
- Experience with shared storage (SAN/NAS, iSCSI, multipath) in clustered environments
- Ability to plan, document, and execute migration runbooks at scale
- Strong troubleshooting and stakeholder communication skills
- Work with an iconic Australian organisation on a national-scale program
- Immediate start in Sydney CBD
