Vacation Student - Geology at Evolution Mining offers hands-on geological experience, mentorship, and a pathway to a graduate program within a leading gold producer.

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with geological mapping and core logging.
  • Sampling and analysing ore and waste materials.
  • Updating geological databases and maps.
  • Participating in grade control and reconciliation activities.
  • Supporting blast hole logging and ore mark-ups.
  • Monitoring ore movement and dilution during mining.
  • Collaborating with mining and processing teams on daily plans.
  • Working within the Integrated Planning team under supervision of a geologist, with tasks aligned to academic progress and interests.
About You

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Current enrolment in a Science degree majoring in Geology, Geoscience, Geophysics, or similar.
  • Experience with relevant software and systems through studies or placements (preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills across verbal, written, numerical, and graphical formats.
  • Ability to uphold high work standards and build strong relationships with peers and leaders.
  • Capacity to work independently to meet personal and team goals.
  • Valid manual driver's licence.
  • Willingness to live and work remotely.

  • 12-week residential program from December to February, with a roster of 5 days on/2 days off and 4 days on/3 days off.
  • Fast-tracked entry into the graduate program for successful participants.

  • Ownership of real projects with meaningful impact.
  • Mentorship from experienced technical leaders.
  • Participation in operational and personal development training.
Career Progression
  • Candidates who successfully complete the vacation program will be fast-tracked into the Evolution Mining graduate program.
  • Exposure to diverse operational experiences and career opportunities within the company.
