Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Smart-OSS Australia
Location: Capalaba, QLD
OSS Systems (UK) has partnered with Smart-OSS in Australia to bring its unique business model and award-winning Software System Solutions to Australia. Already with hundreds of installations across the UK, Africa and the EU, this operational software for hotels, hospitals, and the broader hospitality sector is ready for its Australian debut.
The Australian branch, Smart-OSS, is seeking an experienced Chief Operating Officer to lead the local business, with an emphasis on sales into established Hotel Chains already using the software in the UK.
The intention is for this position to transition into a Chief Operating Officer role in the near future. The successful candidate will initially work under the current Director while receiving training and support. Timeframes for progression will be discussed with shortlisted applicants.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the shareholders, this is a hands-on leadership role best suited to someone with extensive senior-level experience in the hotel and hospitality industry. You will have a deep understanding of day-to-day operations, including staff management, asset maintenance, and cost control, with a proven record in operational excellence.
While a tertiary qualification is valued, real-world operational experience in hotels and hospitality will be the key to success in this role. Software development skills are not required, but a willingness to understand our product, how it works, and how it improves operations will be essential in driving customer adoption.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead Smart-OSS operations and oversee Australian market launch
- Manage day-to-day business activities, ensuring operational and financial goals are met
- Represent the brand and build relationships with key industry stakeholders
- Promote and sell the Smart-OSS software to potential clients
- Drive recruitment and onboarding of additional staff as the company grows
What We're Looking For
- Senior operational experience in hotels and/or hospitality (essential)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams and resources
- Understanding of operational cost control and asset management
- Commercial mindset with the ability to identify and act on opportunities
- Willingness to learn the product and advocate for its benefits to customers
What We Offer
- Highly competitive package commensurate with experience
- The opportunity to lead a major international brand's Australian launch
- Training and support as you learn the product and business, including a trip to the UK for an introduction to the group, including hands on training on UK customers
- Scope to shape the business and grow the team as the market expands
How to Apply
- Please upload your CV (and optional cover letter), and include a link to your LinkedIn profile. Only applicants with the relevant management experience will be considered.
