This is a prioritised position for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accordance with the Special Measures provision of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic). The RoleThe Manager will lead in grant programs and associated policies and have excellent knowledge of financial management and procurement processes within a government setting. The Manager, Business Programs is based within the Aboriginal Economic Development Branch to strengthen and support the growth of the Aboriginal businesses sector throughout the state by leading the strategic implementation of the business pillars under the Yuma Yirramboi Strategy.
The Manager, Business Programs will have the following responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the delivery of Aboriginal Economic Development Programs and ensure service delivery and milestones are on track to meet the expectations of government and the Aboriginal business community.
- Collaborate across DJSIR, government and other stakeholders to strategically connect projects and initiatives that support Aboriginal Victorians' economic development.
- Engage with relevant stakeholders to deliver outcomes through the project management lifecycle.
The position of Manager, Business Programs forms a part of the Aboriginal Economic Development branch within the Economic Policy, Programs and Services group.
The Economic Policy, Programs and Services (EPPS) group brings together advanced capabilities in economics and public policy, data and modelling, program design and evaluation, project management, delivery and assurance. The Aboriginal Economic Development (AED) branch leads work across the department to support Aboriginal self-determination through employment and economic development.
About YouThe successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Relationship Building: demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships with the Victorian Aboriginal community and demonstrated experience in successfully forging partnerships with Aboriginal stakeholders.
- Conceptual and Analytical Ability: demonstrated experience in effectively researching, reviewing, formulating, implementing and evaluating policies, programs and strategies based on DJSIR corporate knowledge.
- Project management: produces complex, strategic and detailed project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified and incorporate procurement and contract management.
