Do you have experience in convenience retailing, other FMCG retail sectors, or working with suppliers servicing FMCG retailers?

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our Merchandise Team. The role is based at our Head Office in Eagle Farm and involves travel across our retail network in Queensland and northern NSW. It combines category management analysis, supplier communication, and ensuring compliance across our retail outlets.

About the Job

As a Buying Assistant (internally called Category Management Specialist), your responsibilities will include:

  1. Liaising with suppliers to build and maintain strong relationships and resolve any issues.
  2. Ensuring supplier compliance with trading terms, obligations, and merchandising requirements.
  3. Supporting the Merchandise Manager in sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating new product ranges.
  4. Monitoring, analysing, and reporting on product and category performance against targets, providing actionable insights.
  5. Ensuring the implementation and compliance of supplier-produced planograms across our retail network.
  6. Providing coaching and support to store managers and their teams on merchandising techniques and compliance standards.
  7. Coordinating and managing internal promotional programs, including overseeing the design and execution of promotional displays and materials.

Your Skills & Experience :

  • Year 12 completion or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of retail management experience or similar roles.
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor store managers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Experience in training, coaching, or mentoring others.
  • Flexible, self-motivated, and capable of working autonomously.

Highly Desirable

  • Previous space management experience.

Due to the nature of the role, applicants must be able to:

  • Safely lift up to 20kg.
  • Perform repetitive tasks including bending, twisting, and lifting.
  • Follow ergonomic guidelines during physical tasks.
