Graduate Environmental Scientist - Contaminated Land

Overview

Our Melbourne/Geelong team is seeking a recent graduate with an interest in Contaminated Land to join on a casual basis. This entry-level role sits within a large multidisciplinary company with projects across renewables, environmental studies, dams and hydropower, solar, energy transition, transport and health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fieldwork including collecting soil, water and ground gas samples from sites across Melbourne and regional VIC
  • Preparing contaminated land technical reports including data management and GIS tools
  • Supporting a variety of multi-disciplinary projects and opportunities
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients and stakeholders

The role also offers opportunities to support SMEC's broader environment, waste and water teams, including landfill investigations and hydrogeological assessments.

Suitable Applicants Will Have
  • Tertiary education in Environmental Science, Soil Science, Engineering, Geology or Hydrogeology
  • Early career experience working within the contaminated land industry (highly regarded)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment
  • Willingness to work away from home for short periods for field assessments
  • A current VIC driver's license and capacity to work outdoors
