The Department of Health is seeking qualified Clinical Nurse Specialists for CYMHS Out of Home Care Team d) in the North of Tasmania.

Please note these positions are also being advertised as Allied Health Professionals in the North, these positions will be filled on merit.

Our Aim:

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Tasmania is growing We are seeking passionate and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialists to provide clinical services to young people and their families/significant others experiencing mental health concerns. The positions available are within our new teams which are currently being developed as initiatives under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care).

The Clinical Nurse Specialist will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach and working within a multidisciplinary team environment.

The role will include:

  • Being part of a dynamic and well supported team committed to delivering high quality mental health services to young people, and their families/carers.
  • Undertaking clinical services through the provision of complex case management, assessment, and individual therapies, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs
  • Working alongside innovative team leaders and consultant psychiatrists to develop new youth mental health services in Tasmania.
  • Leading and working with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.
  • Applicants who have undertaken training in relevant and appropriate evidence-based therapeutic interventions that are developmentally appropriate such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Family Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) would be highly regarded.

Three positions are available in the North.

  • Based in Launceston CBD.

  • Launceston is a great place to raise children with access to some of Tasmania's prestigious schools.

An attractive relocation package and support for international visa requirements may be available for successful applicants.

Three permanent full time day workerpositions working 76hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $106,570 to 112,440 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance withNurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type.

Salary Packaging:

You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Benefits available to eligible candidates:

  • Paymentof $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
  • Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital-based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
  • Satisfactory completion of an appropriate allied health professional course of study at a recognised tertiary institution and registered with the relevant Board or, in the case of unregulated professions, eligible for membership of the relevant professional association.
  • Current Working with Children Registration

*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  • Post graduate experience in mental health in relation to CAMHS
  • A minimum of 3 years current post graduate experience in child, adolescent and/or youth mental health or relevant field.
