Secondary Classroom Teacher (HSIE) - Maternity Leave Replacement in 2026 at Oran Park Anglican College, Narellan NSW, Australia. Contract part-time position (0.8 FTE, 4 days per week) for 2026, with Term 1–4 commitments and attendance at after-hours events and weekly staff meetings. Closing date: 12 September 2025.

Oran Park Anglican College is a Prep–Year 12, co-educational Anglican College in Southwest Sydney, focused on developing powerful learners through explicit teaching of key knowledge and skills within a Christian context.

Position Summary

The HSIE Classroom Teacher will work with other staff to be an effective professional who demonstrates thorough curriculum knowledge, can plan, teach and assess effectively, take responsibility for professional development and promotes the vision and mission of the College. This is a maternity leave replacement for 2026.

0.8 FTE (4 days per week). Temporary position in 2026, Terms 1–4. Student supervision hours are 8:00 am – 3:30 pm, with additional hours for weekly staff meetings and after-hours events.

Major Responsibilities

• Identify clear teaching objectives and specify how they will be taught and assessed.
• Set appropriate academic and behavioural expectations.
• Actively participate in goal setting, coaching and learning sprints for improving pedagogy.
• Promote the general progress and wellbeing of students.
• Provide effective feedback to students to support growth.
• Be involved with the co-curricular life of the College.
• Model a Christian example and care for students' spiritual welfare.
• Collaborate with staff to promote the College's values: courage, curiosity, craftsmanship, collaboration and compassion.

Professional and Personal Attributes

• A committed Christian and active member of a church.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications to teach Stage 4–6 syllabuses and NESA teacher accreditation.
• Knowledge of current syllabus documents and ability to develop engaging teaching programs including direct instruction, inquiry-based learning, and problem solving; ability to develop critical thinking.
• Understanding of assessment for learning and use of technology in learning.
• Commitment to student wellbeing and contributing to co-curricular life.
• Strong written, oral and organisational skills; ability to work effectively in a team; commitment to ongoing professional development.

Desirable Criteria

• Familiarity with Growth Mindset, Habits of Mind, and Visible Thinking / Cultures of Thinking.
• Experience with restorative practices within a student wellbeing framework.
• Ability to teach Stage 6 History, Business Studies, Legal Studies or Studies of Religion is desirable but not essential.

• References: Provide three referees, one of whom should be the Minister of the Christian community you serve, who can support your application.
• Salary: In accordance with the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025 or future approved agreement.
