About the role

Mater Hospital Brisbane is seeking multiple casual Orderlies to join our dedicated team at the South Brisbane Campus.

These positions are vital members of the Ward Services Department, responsible for portage and patient care services across three hospitals in South Brisbane, aligned with Mater's customer-focused philosophy.

Salary range : $ $33.68 per hour plus 12% superannuation, casual loading, and other benefits.

What you'll be doing

  • Assist with transporting and safely transferring patients between departments, to/from other hospitals, using beds, wheelchairs, or ambulances, following relevant policies.
  • Support nursing staff in providing high-quality care, including turning, lifting, mobilising, and hygiene assistance.
  • Ensure safe patient handling using correct techniques and aids to prevent harm.
  • Handle soiled linen, waste, and biomedical materials using appropriate PPE.
  • Transport equipment between departments and hospitals.
  • Handle and restock medical gas cylinders safely.

About you

  • Genuine interest in caring for people and delivering excellent customer service (mandatory).
  • Current driver's license (mandatory).
  • Ability to work rotational shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays (mandatory).
  • Strong team player with problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Reliable, flexible, and capable of prioritising tasks under pressure.
  • Physically fit for a demanding environment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
  • Certificate III in Health Support Services (desirable).
