Are you passionate about ecological restoration and community engagement? Georges River Council is seeking a dedicated Bushcare Officer - Volunteers to join our City Technical Services team in Mortdale and supervise our bush regeneration volunteers.
Position Details
Permanent, Full-Time | $70, $81, % Superannuation
About the Role
In this hands-on role, you are responsible for supervising and managing bush regeneration volunteers, as well as Council's on-ground Bushcare/Bushland Management functions. This includes conducting bush regeneration practices in bushland reserves and overseeing contractors involved in bush regeneration projects.
We're looking for someone with a relevant qualification and demonstrated experience in ecological restoration, including assisted regeneration, revegetation, and large-scale weed control. You will also bring a customer-focused approach and a can-do attitude to engage and influence stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes for Council and the community. Knowledge in bush regeneration, conservation, and land management is essential.
What We Offer
- Permanent, Full-Time position - 76 hours per fortnight (Tuesday to Saturday)
- Salary from $70,180.26 to $81,309.63 per annum plus 12% superannuation (Saturday work attracts a 25% loading)

Candidate Requirements
- Certificate III in Conservation and Land Management (Natural Area Restoration) or equivalent experience
- Experience coordinating volunteer programs and activities
- ACDC Spray Licence or Chemcert
- Strong plant identification skills for native and exotic species across various ecosystems
- Class C Drivers Licence
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in ecological restoration, assisted regeneration, revegetation, and weed control
- Ability to work in various locations within the LGA and perform physical bush regeneration tasks
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding and commitment to WHS practices
