PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Primary School provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for the Primary School (Reception to Year 6). This role encompasses responsibility for the academic, spiritual, operational, and pastoral oversight of the Primary years, ensuring that all aspects align with the College's mission, vision, and Christian ethos.

The Head of Primary fosters a culture of excellence, collaboration, and Christ-like character among staff and students. In partnership with the Primary Leadership Team and Executive staff, the Head of Primary sets high standards for teaching and learning, leads staff development, promotes student wellbeing, and builds strong partnerships with families and the wider College community.

As both a spiritual and educational leader, the Head of Primary is expected to lead by example, inspire a love of learning, uphold biblical values, and model servant leadership in every aspect of the role.

SUMMARY OF WORK RESPONSIBILITIES

The Head of Primary School holds overarching responsibility for the effective leadership and daily management of the Primary School. This includes strategic oversight, staff development, student wellbeing, educational leadership, and spiritual guidance. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Primary works collaboratively with the Principal and Senior Leaders to advance the College's mission and vision. The Head of Primary leads the Primary Leadership Team and is expected to lead with vision, clarity, and a commitment to Christian education.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leading and supporting the Primary School Leadership Team to provide clear accountability and strategic direction aligned with the College's Christian ethos.

Overseeing the recruitment, performance management, and professional development of all Primary School teaching and support staff, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.

Monitoring and promoting student academic progress, wellbeing, and behaviour, implementing pastoral care strategies that foster a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.

Managing and coordinating key R-6 school events such as graduation ceremonies, parent-teacher nights, sports days, and special celebrations, either directly or through delegation.

Serve the school community with humility and a servant heart, demonstrating dedication and care.

Maintain a vibrant, growing relationship with God, showing spiritual maturity and leadership.

Be reliable, responsible, and trustworthy, acting with integrity and excellence to build confidence within the Cedar community.

Demonstrate active involvement in their local church and alignment with the College's core beliefs and values.
