The Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Specialist has the overall responsibility for developing the Site HSW Improvement Plan.
The role partners with and supports the Hospital Executive Team, Managers, Supervisors, and the Health and Safety Committee (HSC) to deliver the Site Improvement Plan.
They provide management system technical advice and support to ensure compliance with the HSW Strategy, HSW Management System, regulatory frameworks, and accreditation requirements.
Key responsibilities will include: Build capability and enhance accountability for safety among Managers, Supervisors, and HSC members through coaching and influencing to implement and embed the HSW Management System and programs.
Display and promote HSW practices through active field-based leadership and engagement.
Drive safe systems of work, conduct quality incident investigations, and deliver visible leadership through education, coaching, and monitoring programs.
Consult with Managers, Supervisors, HSC, contractors, and third parties on operational safety issues, providing advice and assistance to enhance HSW outcomes.
Participate in risk management activities, including facilitating risk and workplace assessments, developing SOPs, conducting control verifications, participating in assurance activities, and leading LTI investigations.
Conduct performance monitoring activities, such as preparing site HSW reports, developing, implementing, and monitoring gap closure plans in consultation with the Site Executive Team.
Monitor and review Site HSW performance with the Site Executive Team to identify trends, hotspots, and celebrate successes.
Participate in regulator inspections related to HSW.
Contribute to State and National strategic programs, initiatives, forums, and advisory committees to drive HSW improvements.
