Strong stakeholder skills and deep knowledge of the electricity market.About The RoleThe Manager, Victorian System Resilience & Performance, leads a team delivering high-quality network planning analysis, insights, and technical advisory services for the Victorian Declared Shared Network.
This role ensures the network can reliably and securely integrate the investment needed for the power system's transition to net zero emissions.
Success requires strong collaboration across AEMO, Vic Grid, Victorian network service providers, and particularly with AEMO's operations, network services, and delivery teams.As a senior leader empowering a team of approximately seven, you will shape and strengthen AEMO as an exceptional organisation—providing safe, reliable, and affordable energy today while enabling the energy transition for the benefit of all Australians.
You will guide with integrity, compassion, and authenticity, embrace diversity and inclusion, and inspire and empower the Victorian System Resilience & Performance team to deliver on AEMO's strategic and operational goals.In this newly created role, you'll work at the forefront of the energy transition and play a pivotal part in preparing the power system 2–3 years ahead of coal plant closures, ensuring all activities are completed for a smooth transition.
Working closely with our internal operations and planning teams, Vic Grid and industry you will deliver the strategies and actions needed before major plant closures.This role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity, collaborating with the existing team to shape responsibilities, refine processes and find what works best.
Expertise in network planning and operations highly desirable.This position can be based out of our Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide offices noting that quarterly travel will be required if you do not reside in Melbourne.Applications close Monday 1 September 2025 – 5pm.What You Will Be Doing Leading technical services to integrate network assets and system services into Victoria's Declared Shared Network, coordinating projects from Planning through to Delivery.
Overseeing network and system performance monitoring, ensuring operational issues inform Network Planning to strengthen power system resilience.
Providing expert technical advice to Vic Grid and the Victorian Government on the operational shift from thermal generation to high renewable penetration.
Building and empowering a high-performing team of seven, role modelling AEMO's values, and managing budget, compliance, risk, and workforce planning.
Establishing strong stakeholder relationships and delivering agreed action plans that enhance engagement and support AEMO's strategic goals.
What You Will Bring To The RoleEducationAppropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline (for example, engineering).Experience & KnowledgeSignificant industry experience in power system planning, with strong knowledge of power system modelling, analysis, and primary plant design.
Proven track record leading geographically dispersed teams through transformation, delivering high-quality outcomes, and reporting to senior management.
Demonstrated capability in project planning, reporting, and delivery, ensuring timely completion to agreed quality standards.
Advanced consulting and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and negotiate complex technical matters.
