The team advises on and builds digital solutions for internal and external audiences, manages digital channels (websites and intranet), and develops content for our digital platforms.
The team also provides creative graphic design services to assist in the delivery of strategic communications.
What you'll be doing The Web Manager position reports to the Director Digital Communications to oversee development of, publishing to and user experience of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet's (PM&C) fleet of websites and the agency intranet.
The Web Manager leads a hybrid and multidisciplinary team, and is responsible for managing a range of complex stakeholder relationships and shared service arrangements.
In this role you will: Turn complex ideas into easy-to-use and understand content solutions Write and edit user centred content for digital audiences, and review content strategies to provide advice to business areas to ensure they will meet their objectives Be a champion for the user perspective of PM&C websites/intranet and identify, research and implement usability and accessibility improvements to enhance user engagement and experience Under limited supervision, initiate and deliver web projects that support the strategic communication objectives of PM&C and provide positive outcomes for our audiences Manage the workload and priorities of the team, and quality assure the work outputs of the team Build team capability through coaching, and provide expert advice and assistance to team members Develop and maintain content standards, website publishing guides and website governance documentation Conduct reporting and analytics activities with a focus on driving change, and implementing Search Engine Optimisation practices to improve website performance Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistency and an integrated approach with media and communications activities Respond to website publishing requests from business areas and provide advice on:- PM&C's policies and procedures- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)- Australian Government Style Manual- Australian Government Digital Experience Policy.
Why you're the ideal candidate You will have a sound understanding of the Australian Government's digital transformation agenda as well as digital best practice including iterative development methodologies, web development, user centred design, and be able to measure and optimise digital content.
You must have experience managing a team and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
You will have some flexibility to work outside of standard hours to handle website related issues and priorities, as required.
Extensive experience using Drupal, Share Point, CSS, HTML., and Google Analytics (GA4) is essential.
You will be able to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
You will also have a comprehensive understanding of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), the Government Style Manual; and the Digital Experience Policy.
You will be able to assess and optimise documents such as Microsoft Word and Adobe PDF files for web publishing, including tagging documents, and provide technical advice to stakeholders.
You will have strong written communications skills, experience in creating user centre digital content, and ideally, you will also have experience developing personas, user stories and journeys.
You will have a demonstrated ability to proactively build and sustain positive and mutually beneficial relationships with team members and stakeholders, and a good understanding of the government communication operating environment.
You will collaborate with staff across the branch, sharing skills and experience; while embracing a positive, energetic working style that values teamwork, diversity and flexibility.
You will be motivated, and have an outcomes focused and growth mindset.

Eligibility Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the APS unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.
At PM&C to be eligible for this position you should be an Australian Citizen at the closing date of application, unless exceptional circumstances apply.
The successful candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance, or hold a current security clearance of an appropriate level.
The successful candidate will be assessed through our pre-employment screening checks, such as an Australian Criminal History Check, and will normally be subject to a six-month probation period if new to the APS or has not yet completed their probation period elsewhere in the APS.
