About the position As a Automation Technician, you will travel to AP&T's customers in North America as required for installations, service, training, and commissioning of new equipment.
We expect you to take pride in providing top-notch customer satisfaction and following up on service visits.
This role requires strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and experience in troubleshooting machines, including electrical functions, control systems, pneumatics, mechanics, and some hydraulics.
This position is based in the Charlotte-Monroe area of North Carolina.
Travel of up to 80% is expected, mainly domestic and some international.
Your responsibilities include : Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment Install and commission new systems Maintain detailed service records of service activities, repairs, installations, and modifications Ensure customer satisfaction by providing remote and on-site technical support to customers Conduct customer training, including creating training material for on-site and off-site training Perform preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance What We Expect from You Your experience & education A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field is a plus.
Field experience and a big appetite to learn are valued just as much as an academic degree Experience installing and commissioning equipment and electrical troubleshooting A good understanding of Siemens PLC (S7, Siemens TIA, and SIMOTION)Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings Pneumatics and hydraulics knowledge is a plus Ability to travel up to 80% (primarily domestic)Outstanding English communication skills, both verbal and written—always with a friendly and team-oriented approach.
Detail-oriented, with strong organizational and planning skills.
Affinity for problem-solving, time management, and multi-tasking.
