Your next career opportunity As a Research Assistant at the Australian Institute of Art History (AIAH), you'll play a crucial role in creating an archive of oral histories to commemorate the 80th anniversaries of the Herald Chair of Fine Art and art history teaching at the University of Melbourne.
You'll have the opportunity to conduct primary research, identify and interview key figures in Australian art history, and contribute to public-facing research events.
This role offers you the chance to shape the narrative of art education in Australia while working alongside world-leading scholars in a thriving academic environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conduct Primary Research: Conceive, progress, and complete research on the history of the Fine Arts/Art History program at the University of Melbourne.
Manag e Oral History Project: Identify interviewees, define interview questions, obtain necessary permissions, and organise interview logistics.
Document and Archive: Scan and collate sources and materials to create a lasting resource for future researchers.
Contribute to Public Engagement: Co-ordinate and participate in public-facing research events to disseminate project findings.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a dedicated researcher with a doctorate in Art History or a relevant Humanities discipline, possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks while working collaboratively in a dynamic academic environment.
You may also:
Hold a doctorate in Art History or another relevant Humanities discipline.
Demonstrate excellent research coordination and event delivery skills.
Possess outstanding writing and communication abilities, evidenced by publications and public engagement experience.
Have a proven track record of efficiently managing tasks with competing deadlines.
Exhibit professional and collegial behaviour, aligning with the Faculty's Values and Behaviours.
