We are currently seeking a Chief Estimator to join our Growing Natural Resources team in Brisbane.
The ideal candidate will have broad experience across mining, oil & gas, and natural resources sectors.
The primary purpose of this role is to manage commissions requiring estimates and estimate assurance.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the estimation process for construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and accurate estimates.
Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop comprehensive cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to prepare detailed take-offs and cost breakdowns.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and cost data.
Review bids, proposals, and subcontractor quotes for competitiveness and compliance.
Conduct value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative methods.
Prepare and present cost estimates, reports, and presentations to stakeholders and clients.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and negotiations.
Calculate project costs and estimate timelines.
Monitor and update estimates based on project scope changes.
Mentor junior estimators and team members.
Stay informed on industry trends and market conditions.
Ensure estimating activities comply with company policies and standards.
Quantify from design information, check quantities, chase quotations, build pricing, and structure estimates.
Lead estimate assurance and due diligence reviews.
Maintain central estimating database and norms.
Opex estimating capabilities will be considered favorably.
Qualifications and Skills: Relevant experience, preferably in a consultancy environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, Navisworks, and estimating software (Cost X, Candy, etc.).
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent English communication and report writing skills.
Motivated, driven, and client-focused.
