About The Role
Georges River Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Coordinator Development Assessment to support the Manager Development and Building in leading a dynamic team of Development Assessment staff.
This pivotal role ensures the delivery of appropriate development outcomes that balance the natural, built, social, and economic environments in alignment with the public interest.
The successful candidate will oversee the assessment and determination of development applications under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, manage court appeals, and drive continuous improvement in customer service standards.
Key responsibilities include implementing process enhancements for statutory compliance, allocating duties efficiently, undertaking complex planning tasks, contributing to business planning and financial sustainability, and ensuring the effective management of planning panel processes.

What We Offer
Permanent, Full time - 70 hours per fortnight
Salary from $137,358.18 - $159,150.21 per annum plus 12% superannuation (dependant on the skills, qualifications and relevant experience of the suitable candidate)

The successful candidate will have
Tertiary Qualifications in Town Planning, Building Surveying or related field
Construction Induction (White card)
Current NSW Drivers Licence
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Environmental Planning Instruments and relevant NSW Planning legislation as they relate to Georges River Council
Ability to lead, direct and motivate staff, and to ensure that appropriate performance management criteria is implemented within the team
Computer literacy, the ability to analyse and interpret statistical data, and a high level of written and oral communication skills
Ability to present accurate, clear, concise and timely reports and correspondence on all activities and matters affecting the operations of the team
High level of customer service focus and the demonstrated ability to negotiate and mediate to objectively solve disputes and/or problems that may arise with the Division or with external contacts
Ability to communicate with Councillors, the community and other stakeholders involved in environmental public health, and local government regulatory disciplines, and the ability to work co-operatively with other Directorates of Council
Demonstrated ability to deliver process improvements and engender ownership of processes and procedures by users
Ability to actively manage team performance against key performance indicators
Ability to actively participate in business planning and financial management / sustainability of the team operations
Proven organisation and time management skills
Experience in Class 1 and/or Class 4 proceedings in the Land and Environment Court as an expert town planning witness
