Development Engineer

About Ku-ring-gai Council
Located 16 km's north of the Sydney CBD, the Ku-ring-gai area covers 84km2, is home to 124,000 residents and set in one of New South Wales' most attractive natural environments.
About the role
Council is seeking a qualified and motivated Development Engineer to join our high-performing Development Assessment Services team.
This is your opportunity to contribute to shaping the future of our vibrant, leafy municipality through expert engineering advice and innovative problem-solving.
Reporting to the Team Leader Development Engineer, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Assessing and preparing recommendations for development and subdivision applications
Preparing technical reports on engineering matters related to applications and construction certificates
Reviewing and monitoring stormwater, traffic, subdivision and civil works
Providing advice and guidance on Development Control Plans
Supporting Council in Land and Environment Court hearings, including expert witness reporting
Providing high quality technical advice to the public
Ensuring compliance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Council policies, and best-practice principles

Qualifications, Skills & experience

Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field
Minimum of 2 years' experience with development engineering matters
Sound knowledge of development assessment processes including stormwater management, traffic and civil/subdivision works
Understanding of local government and environmental legislation
Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team environment
A current Class C driver's licence
