Full time, continuing position, located on the Camperdown and Darlington Campuses at the School of Physics and the School of Biomedical Engineering Exciting opportunity to join both the leading physics department in the country and the rapidly growing, ambitious biomedical engineering department, with outstanding staff and students undertaking world-leading teaching and research Base Salary Level B / C / D, $127,436 - $207,069 p.a + 17% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Physics at the University of Sydney is currently seeking applications for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Applied Plasma Physics and Biointerface Engineering to establish an ambitious research program spanning the fields of plasma science and biomedical technologies.
The successful candidate will build collaborations with the SMART CRC (); the Soft Electronics Alliance (SEA) (); and the Plasma Hub Australia (), contibuting to a vibrant plasma science and engineering community advancing technologies for biomedicine and sustainability.
Your key responsibilities will be to :contribute to outstanding teaching and learning in Physics and Biomedical Engineeringdemonstrate research excellence, develop a program of original research either independently or as part of a team, and pursue external funding to support this researchdevelop and maintain collaborations within the School of Physics and the School of Biomedical Engineeringparticipate in research student supervision at the undergraduate and postgraduate leveldevelop and maintain external research partnerships and engagement, including as a core partner in large multidisciplinary intiatives involving clinical and industry partnerscontribute to engagement and service / administrative activities of the School of Physics, School of Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineeringcontribute to and help shape the strategic goals of the Schools and Faculties.

As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Applied Plasma Physics and Biointerface Engineering who has :a Ph D or other research doctorate in a relevant fielda strong track record of research including applied plasma physics and biointerface engineeringdemonstrated expertise in plasma processing, including vacuum systems, high voltage pulsed power and plasma diagnosticsdemonstrated experience in materials / surface science and engineeringthe skill to clearly express ideas and communicate within a team environmentthe ability to work independently on problems, and motivate junior members of the teamdemonstrated ability and enthusiasm to work in multidisciplinary contexts, including biomedical and clinical partnersexperience working with industry partners and ideally also as a core partner in large multi- institutional projectsa capability to see the bigger picture, and have vision for the future development of your projectsexperience in university-level teaching, including lecturing or similar presentationssufficient proficiency in physics and engineering to teach, with appropriate preparation time, into undergraduate physics and biomedical engineering classesdemonstrated progress toward your own independent research program evidenced by original, high-quality, research, as evidenced by refereed publications in particular; a track record of external funding success is an advantage, especially at Level C or expected at Level D.
In accord with the international Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA), journal impact factors will not be considered and should not be mentioned in your applicationevidence of developing capacity to contribute to governance, administration, and leadership in the higher education sector.
