Skilled in Truck Driving and/or Waste Services? Play a vital role in ensuring a quality waste collection and disposal service for the City of Canning.
Guided by a supportive supervisor and leadership team, you will use your experience operating heavy-rigid vehicles, trucks and related plant and machinery to provide friendly and professional customer service to the City's residents and customers.
We have full-time, permanent positions available – if you want to be part of a thriving City and great team culture, come and apply A snapshot of your day-to-day duties: Operate a variety of plant and vehicles including (but not limited to) Side-loading Rubbish & Recycle trucks, Schaffer Loaders, and Rear-loading Litter & Verge trucks Act as vehicle custodian, performing pre-starts, vehicle logs and routine daily maintenance Collect and maintain 240 litre mobile garbage bins Collect verge-side green waste, including illegally dumped material Litter collection, including park and street bins Repair, assemble and deliver bins, including installation of street litter bins Who we're looking for: HR truck license - minimum "HR-A" Waste industry experience and solid history operating heavy-rigid vehicles/trucks Proven experience operating other waste collection vehicles and associated plant and machinery Strong map-reading and navigation skills Traffic Management Ticket and Traffic Management experience highly regarded Professional, customer-focused and team orientated Ability to carry out physically demanding tasks in a safe manner in all weather conditions Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks Satisfactory National Police Clearance (under six months) Why you'll love working at the City Full-time permanent positions in a thriving Band 1 Local Council 38 hours a week, 4 day week (weekly RDO) and 9.5 hour days on a rotating roster $39.41 per hour + super + overtime penalty rates for those looking for more $$$ 17.5% paid Annual Leave Loading for when you take annual leave We match super contributions to help you save for your future Discounted health insurance, free flu vaccinations, skins checks and other well-being events Free confidential Employee Assistance Program for personal and professional support Complimentary membership to the Cannington and Riverton Leisureplexes (gym, aquatics, sauna, group fitness) Impact the Community in a Big Way The City of Canning aims to be a welcoming and thriving city, giving our people an opportunity to thrive through work that truly makes a difference With a population of around 100,000 over 64 square km of land, we provide services to support and develop our community every day.
