Position Summary: The General Manager is responsible for the overall operational and, in collaboration with the CEO, the strategic leadership of the company.
This role requires a dynamic, visionary, and results-oriented individual with a proven track record of over-achievement in managing high-performing teams, driving revenue growth, and delivering exceptional client experiences.
The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the company's Project Management team and operations, including event planning and execution, client relations, financial performance, team development, and business development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: In collaboration with the CEO, develop company goals and strategic plans, marketing, sales, finance, and human resources.
Implement the company's strategic plan aligned with business objectives.
Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify new opportunities and stay ahead of industry developments.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and partners.
Oversee the development and implementation of innovative event concepts and solutions.
Operational Management: Oversee all aspects of the company's operations.
Lead the Project Management team and all aspects of event production, including planning, logistics, budgeting, and execution.
Ensure the efficient and effective delivery of all events, exceeding client expectations and ahead of industry standards.
Lead and mentor a high-performing team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Develop and implement best practices and operational procedures to improve efficiency and productivity.
Oversee the selection, development, and implementation of technology solutions to support business operations.
Oversee and ensure the timely and efficient delivery of all projects within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Continuously improve and implement robust project management methodologies and tools.
Oversee the procurement and management of vendors and suppliers.
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a high-performing team of event professionals.
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
Delegate effectively and empower team members to take ownership of their roles.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
In collaboration with the CEO, develop and manage the company's annual budget and financial forecasts.
Monitor revenue and expenses closely and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
Negotiate contracts with clients and vendors to maximize revenue and minimize costs.
Explore and pursue new revenue streams and business opportunities.
Client Relations: Ensure strong client relationships with yourself and the Project Management team through excellent communication and proactive service, ensuring their satisfaction and loyalty.
Proactively address client concerns and resolve any issues that may arise.
Ensure client satisfaction and exceed expectations on every project.
Business Development: In collaboration with the CEO, identify and pursue new business opportunities through sales and marketing efforts.
Develop and maintain a strong online presence and brand identity.
Attend industry events and networking functions to build relationships and generate leads.
Approve proposals and presentations for potential clients.
Identify and mitigate potential risks to the company's operations and financial performance.
In collaboration with the CEO, develop and implement crisis management plans.
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and security regulations.
Corporate Social Responsibility: Promote and uphold the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Implement benchmark sustainable practices and initiatives across all aspects of the business.
Support community engagement and charitable initiatives.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field.
12+ years of experience in event management with at least 8 years in a managerial role.
Deep understanding of the event industry, including current trends, best practices, and competitive landscape.
Proven track record of success in managing complex projects and exceeding client expectations.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong understanding of technology and its application in the event industry.
Ability to thrive under pressure when needed and meet tight deadlines.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and budgets.
Experience in managing financial performance and driving profitability.
Experience in leading and mentoring high-performing teams.
Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
International experience is highly preferred.
