Flexible work arrangements on offer and genuine work-life balance Salary range: $113,022 - $136,747 plus super Richmond Search has been exclusively engaged to recruit a VPS 5-level commercial Lawyer to join the in-house legal team of a major Victorian government department.
This is a strategic, high-impact legal team with a significant portfolio that spans whole-of-government commercial activity and public sector transformation.
You will join a collaborative in-house legal team within the Office of the General Counsel, advising senior executives and ministerial offices on a wide spectrum of complex legal matters with whole-of-government reach.
Scope of the role The team provides legal advice on: Major commercial and ICT procurements High-value projects , outsourcing arrangements, and shared services Technology, privacy, data and cyber security Real estate and property across a variety of asset classes Employment, IR, IP, and intergovernmental agreements Policy, law reform and program delivery You'll also work in close partnership with other departments and agencies, contributing to critical public outcomes and leading some of the state's most significant legal work.
Responsibilities: Among other things, you will: Provide high-level legal advice on complex procurement and contractual issues, including advice related to State Purchase Contracts and public tenders Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial and ICT related agreements Advise on privacy, data governance, cyber security, employment, and intergovernmental agreement s Deliver strategic legal support to senior stakeholders and contribute to ministerial briefings and decision-making Contribute to organisational improvement and legal capability-building across the department Collaborate with other government legal teams on cross-functional projects.
You will need: At 4 years post-admission experience gained in a private practice, in-house or public sector environment.
Your experience should be in a non-contentious area of practice such as corporate/commercial IT, banking & finance, property, construction or employmen t The ability to work independently on complex legal issues, provide authoritative advice, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders Experience or an interest in technology, data, cyber or privacy issues Excellent drafting, analytical, and research skills.
