The Role We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Intern or Junior Front-End Developer to join our engineering team.
You will be working directly on our high-traffic, customer-facing websites, which are built on a modern Angular 20 stack (Angular 20 is preferred but not 100% required if you meet our other requirements).
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a high-performance, large-scale application.
You will be mentored by senior developers and contribute to meaningful projects from our backlog, focusing on improving code quality, performance, and user experience.
Your work will directly impact millions of users.

While technical experience with our frameworks is required, we're interested in your collaborative spirit and drive to learn—confident that the right person can master any technology with our support.
Your Responsibilities Will Include: Collaborating with the front-end team to implement features and refactor components.
Translating UI/UX designs into high-quality, responsive code using Angular, Tailwind, and SCSS.
Improving code quality by refactoring components, strengthening Type Script usage (e.g., removing any), and implementing modern Angular patterns like Signals and the new control flow syntax (don't worry, we will show you how)Enhancing website performance by optimising CSS delivery, implementing skeleton loaders, and managing application state with Transfer State for SSR.
Writing clean, semantic, and accessible HTML5 to improve SEO and usability across all our applications.
Assisting in writing unit and integration tests with Jest and Playwright to ensure application reliability.
Participating in code reviews and embracing our culture of coaching and learning from each other.
Contributing to the overall architecture by helping to break down large components and centralize duplicated logic into reusable services.
Qualifications & Skills Must-Haves (What You Need to Succeed)Type Script Knowledge: You understand the basics of static typing and why it's crucial for building scalable applications.
Framework Familiarity: Basic experience with a modern front-end framework like Angular, React, or Vue.js.
Direct experience or a strong desire to learn Angular is essential.
Version Control: You are comfortable using Git for branching, committing, and creating pull requests.
Fairly detailed sports knowledge: Cipher is all about sports.

Nice-to-Haves (What Will Make You Stand Out)Angular Experience: Direct experience with Angular (any version), particularly with concepts like Components, Services, and Rx JS.
Styling Expertise: Familiarity with SCSS and a utility-first CSS framework like Tailwind CSS.
Performance & SEO Focus: A genuine interest in web performance, Core Web Vitals, and building SEO-friendly applications (experience with SSR is a huge plus).
Testing Interest: Some exposure to or interest in writing automated tests (e.g., Jest, Playwright, Cypress).
Build Tool Awareness: You've heard of or have touched tools like Webpack or monorepo tools like NX.
A Portfolio: A Git Hub profile or personal website showcasing your projects or coursework.
