The Opportunity The Director, Sustainable Water Strategy and Drought is a senior leadership position within the Catchment and Communities division of the Water and Catchments Group at the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).
The role oversees the development and implementation of key Victorian water initiatives focused on water security and long-term public benefits, particularly in the context of climate change and drought conditions.

What you will deliver Collaborate with stakeholders across DEECA, the water sector, industry, and community to develop strategic and tactical plans.
Lead the creation of the Western Region Sustainable Water Strategy, establishing strategic objectives for regional water management.
Monitor and manage the performance of programs and projects, ensuring ongoing compliance and performance standards.
Provide high-quality, strategic advice to the Executive Director, Catchments and Communities, and other divisions within the Water and Catchments Group.
What you will bring Proven leadership in natural resource management, law, engineering, environmental science, or related fields, with a track record of delivering complex strategic or project plans, preferably in the water sector.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with success in building partnerships across government, industry, Traditional Owners, and communities.
Strong understanding of policy planning and regulatory frameworks, capable of providing authoritative advice and contributing to national and state forums.
Ability to lead high-performing teams, promote service excellence, and influence organizational culture in a senior leadership environment.

This is a fixed-term position for up to 3 years.
