The Opportunity
We have an opportunity for an Aquaculture Environmental
Assessment Officer to be part of our Fisheries and Aquaculture
Division within the Department of Primary Industries and
Regions.
The primary purpose of the role is to deliver specialist
technical input into business functions such as the assessment of
environmental monitoring information and aquaculture development
applications, as well as aquatic animal health functions, policy
development and site audits.
Effectiveness in this role requires a
sound knowledge or awareness of the Aquaculture Act 2001, and a
range of other state and national legislative frameworks relevant
to aquaculture development and operation, including but not limited
to the Fisheries Management Act 2007, Livestock Act 1997 and the
Environment Protection Act 1993.
The role contributes delivering the agency's priorities
including increased production of our primary industries, grow
regions and building partnerships.
The role contributes to delivering core work for the Fisheries
& Aquaculture Division including delivering services to develop
policies, management arrangements and regulatory frameworks to
ensure our fisheries and aquaculture resources are managed for
long-term biological and ecological sustainability, and are
allocated and shared equitably between and within sectors,
maximising the economic and social benefits to the wider
community

Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorily
complete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made an
offer of employment.
Australian residency or current works permit is required
(responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current
work permit).
Part time opportunity, 22.5 hours per week
Opportunity untill 24/7/2026

Essential Qualifications

A degree in Marine Science or related field

Requirements

Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be
required.

Remuneration
PO2 - $88,255 min - $97,667 max per annum, plus
superannuation-part time equivalent
