The role provides strategic leadership and leads the management of RTI applications to the department, the Office of the Premier and the department's portfolio bodies under the Right to Information Act 2009.
As the department's lead privacy adviser, the role oversees privacy activities and drives the department's ongoing implementation of changes introduced by the Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023.
You will use your exceptional judgement skills, understanding of how government works and first-hand experience with, and expert knowledge of, RTI and IP legislation and relevant case law, to sensitively navigate advice to and consultation with clients & stakeholders.
About Us Governance and Integrity provides policy and operational advice and support to the Premier, Director-General, and where relevant, all government departments.
These responsibilities include administering the department's responsibilities under the RTI Act and the IP Act.
How you'll contribute In this varied and intellectually stimulating role, you'll make your mark by: Leading the management of RTI applications for the department, the Office of the Premier and the department's portfolio bodies Providing strategic leadership and expert advice on RTI and IP obligations Overseeing the department's privacy activities, including privacy complaints under the IP Act and reported breaches of the IP Act Driving the department's ongoing implementation of changes introduced by the Information Privacy and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2023.
What you'll bring to the role We are looking for an experienced RTI&P leader who can expertly navigate the sensitivities and complexities associated with managing RTI applications for a central agency.
You will use exceptional judgement and communication skills to work collaboratively and cooperatively with clients, departmental staff, stakeholders and the public.
You'll Draw On Your Prior Experience As a Team Leader And An RTI Decision-maker And Your Expert Working Knowledge Of The Systems Of Government And Government Processes To Lead, Develop And Coach a Team Of RTI Practitioners Tomake and supervise the making of defensible, reviewable decisions under the RTI Actensure capacity and capability in the department to deliver expert advice and sound RTI decision making.
