About the opportunity This exciting role is for an inaugural Registrar to the newly formed Gastroenterology Unit at Werribee Mercy Hospital, comprising of 9 Gastroenterologists.
The position will be: Fixed-Term Full time for 1 year at Werribee Mercy Hospital in the Gastroenterology Department.
Primary focus: Care of gastroenterology inpatients (usually 4-5 at any one time) in a multidisciplinary sense, taking referrals from and providing consultation during hours for Gastroenterology/liver problems to other hospital units and ED and attendance at outpatients in General Gastroenterology (with the possibility of SVH run subspecialty IBD and liver clinics).
Opportunities for training in endoscopy.
Assistance with peri-endoscopy clinical care alongside endoscopy liaison nurses and in the outpatient setting alongside Outpatient ANUMs.
Preparation for and presentation at Unit Radiology and Pathology meetings and ward inpatient and endoscopy audits.
Presentation at Unit Journal clubs and other educational meetings.
Contribution to the unit's research output including through quality assurance activities and other projects prepared for publication purpose.
Contribution to teaching including of Junior medical staff as well as Notre Dame University Medical students.

To thrive in this role, you will have: MBBS (or equivalent) with General AHPRA registration with FRACP first part written and clinical examination or equivalent.
Demonstrated time management, organisational, clinical and communication skills, with the ability to adapt and problem solve.
Adaptability and willingness to help to grow and develop the unit.
Enthusiastic, motivated, committed, team player who is willing to contribute and be responsive to other needs within the hospital.
A compassionate, flexible and positive approach to effective patient care and management.
The ability to nurture friendly, respectful relationships and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining: A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
