About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?John Holland is looking for a Senior Project Engineer, Civil Lead, for Stage 1 A of the BIFT project.
The role offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on a landmark project, redefining Victoria's logistics and transportation sectors.
As the Senior Project Engineer - Civil Lead, you will manage critical civil works in a dynamic and evolving project environment.
Your commitment to excellence and innovation is crucial to the creation of this state-of-the-art freight terminal.
Your role is key to driving the project towards successful, on-time delivery, working alongside other discipline leads within a well-resourced and high-performing team to ensure key milestones and delivery dates are met through effective management and leadership.
Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do; Oversee and manage excavation and formation works, ensuring compliance with project specifications, plans, schedules, and quality standards.
Lead the application of trial blasting, focusing on safety and environmental sustainability.
Execute drainage works in line with project requirements and environmental standards.
Have prior experience in drill and blast applications for rock removal Construct temporary access to ensure efficient site logistics.
Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure timely completion of civil works.
Troubleshoot civil engineering challenges to maintain project momentum Perform site inspections and audits, ensuring conformity to technical specifications and best practices.
Cultivate a team environment that encourages communication, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
Update the Project Manager regularly on civil works progress, budget, and risk management.
To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for; A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
Significant experience in civil construction for large-scale infrastructure projects.
A proven track record in managing civil works, including excavation, blasting, drainage, and the construction of temporary access.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a diverse team.
In-depth knowledge of civil construction processes, techniques, and technology, with a dedicated approach to health and safety.
Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholder relationships.
Proficiency in construction management software and openness to innovative technology.
A strategic outlook for problem-solving and decision-making, with meticulous attention to detail and a resolve to tackle challenges.
