Assistant Director, Work Health And Safety

This role provides work health safety and wellbeing advice, assistance and support in relation to WHS and wellbeing legislative obligations, standards and policy within the Agency.
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive experience in WHS and Wellbeing, an ability to work independently as well as part of the team where you will contribute to strategic planning of priorities and health and wellbeing initiativesKey Responsibilities Design, develop and implement health, safety and wellbeing initiatives, policies and procedures in line with relevant legislation, requirements and organisational strategic objectives.
Develop, maintain and provide a continual improvement focus on the Work Health and Safety Management System (WHSMS).
Develop and maintain positive and proactive partnerships with managers, health and safety advisors and representatives focused on improving safety outcomes.
Draft and develop brief and reporting papers (including for Board and Committees).
Support and provide WHS training to managers and workers and work with management to embed WHS in all facets of the Agency.
Provide advice and support on WHS issues and make practicable and operationally specific recommendations.
Monitor and report on training requirements and assist in the management of WHS and wellbeing outcomes and objectives in a timely manner.
Contribute to the Agency's induction program by presenting key WHS mandatory training and information.
Ensure compliance with Government's active assurance system by the Agency and civil and construction contractors, including attending onsite inspections.
Support the Agency and project managers to utilise ICT systems and databases to document and report WHS matters in projects.
Skills and Experience Required Hold a Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety (mandatory) Hold a Driver's licence class C (mandatory) Demonstrated technical knowledge, high level understanding and application of work health and safety legislation and manage workplace safety in a range of operational environments (office based, project management and construction).
