The Role Our client is seeking a Legal Counsel OR Senior Legal Counsel to join their high-performing legal team in Sydney.
This role offers the opportunity to provide strategic legal support across a portfolio of major infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on MC, D&C, Construct Only, ECI, PPPs and other significant construction initiatives.
As in-house counsel, you will provide commercially focused legal advice across all stages of the project lifecycle.
Working closely with senior leaders and project teams, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects that align with the organisation's strategic objectives.
In this role, you will: Draft, review, and negotiate a range of complex project agreements, including MC, D&C, Construct Only, ECI, PPPs and long-term construction contracts.
Manage legal aspects of major developments from inception through to delivery.
Advise on contract strategy, claims management, and dispute avoidance.
Support key commercial decisions to drive project success.
The Candidate The ideal candidate will have 4-8 years of PAE (Post Admission Experience) from a reputable law firm or in-house role, with extensive experience in front-end legal work and project delivery within the construction sector.
Key attributes include: Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate complex construction contracts.
Practical experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects, with a focus on contract strategy, claims management, and dispute resolution.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
A proactive and adaptable mindset, able to navigate and resolve complex challenges.
Capability to work independently and excel in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
