Position: Substation Engineer We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled sub station engineer to assist with BESS and PV solar projects around Australia as we build our pipeline into 2027.
With a minimum 10 years experience and self driven you will support our business across renewable energy and transmission line projects.
Responsibilities Design, control, and implement electrical systems and products.
Perform detailed calculations to develop manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational standards, specifications, and designs for electrical systems or components..
Analyze electrical system requirements, capacity, cost, and project needs and then develop a system plan Product document and record management Creating and maintaining product documentation, including product reports and design specifications Analyzing and interpreting technical drawings and engineering specifications.
Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time Enacting Electrical System Concept & Design Criteria, Performing in Electrical Study & Equipment Sizing Calculation, Establishing Equipment List & Electrical Load List, Preparing Technical Specification & Equipment Supplier TBE, Creating Construction Process Drawing & Deliverables, Designing GIS/AIS/Transmission Lines, Taking-off Electrical Bill of Material etc.
Safety Standards Ensuring that products meet relevant safety standards and engineering codes.
Procurement support Technical bid evaluation for electrical equipment.
Examine needs on new equipment, calculate costs and help prepare budge Team Building & Delivery Collaborating with other members of the engineering team to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
Attending, hosting or coordinating technical meetings.
Client Relationships Define customer needs and requirements.
Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests About You B.
Sc in Engineering or a recognized engineering qualification.
Additional certificate in design in desirable.
10+ years detailed design/engineering experience in 132k V and above Substation & Transmission Lines in Australia.
Experience in Renewable PV Solar Farm and/or large-scale Battery Storage projects (minimum 100 MW).
Experience in Auto CAD or other software key to the discipline of expertise.
Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, NER, AEMO, and NSP regulations.
Proficiency in HV substation design and Transmission Lines.
Experience with review and modification works for schematic diagrams which shall be provided in Substation.
Good understanding of PV and BESS system design, integration, HV & LV AC & DC side.
Ability to develop detailed electrical drawings, calculation, specifications, technical proposals & reports.
Experience with relevant design software (e.g., Auto CAD, ETAP, Dig Silent).
Understanding of power system analysis (load flow, short circuit, protection).
Experience in an EPC environment managing project design scope, schedule, and budget.
Strong ability to liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.
Experience in design review, verification, and assessment of renewable projects.
Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues.
Experience with design consultant So W drafting.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of Grid Connection Process.
