WHAT ARE WE OFFERING?
Join a forward-thinking team at Mount Barker District Soldiers Memorial Hospital, located in the thriving Adelaide Hills.
With a brand-new, purpose-built hospital set to open in 2027, this is a unique opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality obstetric and gynaecological care while helping shape the future of maternity services in the region.
You'll be part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team within a growing regional health service - all just a short drive from Adelaide and nestled in a vibrant, community-focused environment.
We have on offer multiple permanent full time and part time positions (hours to be negotiated) as either Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecology or GP Obstetrician, and a temporary part time position working 40 hours per fortnight, up to 30 June 2026 as Consultant Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
New Mount Barker Hospital Development
The South Australian Government has committed $320.8 million to the New Mount Barker Hospital Development which will see a major redevelopment on the existing site and provide greater access to high-quality health services closer to home for the expanding population of Mount Barker and the Adelaide Hills region.
The New Mount Barker Hospital will:

triple inpatient capacity from 34 to 102 beds
expand capacity in specialist maternity, paediatric, rehabilitation, medical, surgical and palliative care beds
deliver 35 consult rooms to support community and allied health, Aboriginal health and medical outpatient services
allow for onsite dispensing pharmacies and pathology laboratories
establish a new 12-bed mental health unit.

HOW WILL YOU CONTRIBUTE?

Deliver expert clinical care in antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and neonatal settings, including participation in the primary on-call roster.
Perform and assist in major and minor gynaecological procedures, ensuring safe, high-quality surgical outcomes.
Provide leadership in quality assurance and clinical governance within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology service.
Supervise, mentor and teach junior doctors, GP registrars, and medical students, fostering a strong learning culture.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support seamless, patient-centred care across the pregnancy continuum.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU NEED TO KNOW/WHAT IS ESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESS?

You will need to be immunised.

You will need to undergo employment screening, what you require is also on the front page of the Role Description.
You must hold a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent), with appropriate specialist qualifications, and be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner.
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG), or an equivalent recognised qualification, is also required.
