Reporting to the General Counsel, News Corp Australia (NCA), this role advises the business on all commercial and corporate legal matters , particularly concerning privacy, marketing, data, and procurement .
It is not an editorial legal role .
Responsibilities include: Providing relevant, strategic, and actionable legal support and advice as part of a small, high-performing team.
Applying an internal overlay to external advice to ensure it aligns with business imperatives.
Assisting the General Counsel to ensure the Legal Team operates efficiently, including handling: External privacy requests/complaints and advice on privacy and data issues Marketing and consumer content reviews Procurement advice Contract reviews and drafting Development of precedents and training materials Collaborating with the Legal Team and managing work overflow as needed.
Qualifications: Qualified solicitor in an Australian jurisdiction with a current practising certificate.
Post-qualification experience, ideally including private practice and in-house roles.
Strong skills in legal drafting, reasoning, communication, and negotiation.
Ability to identify legal risks and offer practical solutions.
Strong commercial and business acumen.
