The opportunity The Team Leader Wellbeing will provide operational leadership and line management to a multidisciplinary team of mental health practitioners, including psychologists, mental health social workers, counsellors, intake workers, volunteer and student counsellors.
This position will work across various funding streams, including community health counselling, HACC, and the Boroondara Triannual Grant funding.
The Team Leader will support the allocation of new referrals to the service, in collaboration with the Senior Counsellor and Intake team.
The Team Leader is a key member of the Wellbeing leadership team, along with the Senior Counsellor and Senior Manager.
The role may also involve holding a small caseload and delivering counselling support to clients within Access HC programs.
This maximum term 0.7 EFT role offers flexibility to work either 3.5 days a week or, alternately, WEEK 1 - 3 days or WEEK 2 - 4 days.
Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day operational management of staff, including regular supervision, responding to staff queries, approving leave, and other line management duties.
Support staff in reviewing and discharging clients appropriately, including discharge planning and caseload management to meet service KPIs.
Provide clinical supervision to students, volunteer counsellors, and intake staff.
Lead recruitment, induction, and training for new staff, including volunteers and students.
Offer clinical expertise and secondary consultation to staff and external agencies for referral, assessment, and treatment planning.
Oversee new referrals and allocations with the Senior Counsellor and Intake team to ensure clients are directed to the right service at the right time.
Key Selection Criteria Tertiary qualification in psychology with current AHPRA registration as a psychologist OR tertiary qualification in social work with current AASW registration as a mental health social worker.
Minimum of 7 years experience in the Mental Health / AOD sector.
Experience and skills in clinical risk assessment and management.
Qualifications and training in clinical supervision.
People management and leadership skills, with willingness to undertake further training in these areas.
Valued Attributes Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Understanding of mental health funding, KPIs, and ability to lead the team in achieving these.
Experience in assessing, managing, and documenting clinical risks.
High accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to organize workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Proficiency with electronic health record systems (e.g., Trak Care) and Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to work safely and creatively with diverse consumers, including LGBTIQA+, CALD, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
