Job Summary The General Manager of Data and Technology Utilities leads the development, maintenance, and support of the group's Data Platform and technology utilities, essential for executing the group's strategy.
This role oversees the entire data infrastructure, including technology, personnel, and processes for data sourcing, storage, security, and distribution.
Additionally, it manages the design, development, and maintenance of key technology utilities like HUBconnect, Engage, myprosperity, RPA, and other strategic group tools.
Responsibilities Data Strategy Execution: Lead the execution of the group's data strategy by expanding data ingestion capabilities and developing data marts.
Ensure that authorised individuals and systems can readily access and utilise these data resources.
Infrastructure Management: Oversee the entire data technology infrastructure, including managing personnel, processes, and systems that support data sourcing, ingestion, storage, security, translation, and distribution.
Ensure the infrastructure meets the needs of all HUB24 products and services.
Product Development and Maintenance: Direct the design, development, support, and maintenance of key technology utilities, including the HUBconnect suite, Engage, My Prosperity, and other strategic tools.
Ensure these utilities effectively support the group's strategic initiatives.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather business requirements, translate them into functional and technical specifications, and develop practical solutions that align with strategic goals.
Strategic Planning: Develop strategic plans for resource allocation and technology implementation.
Create technology roadmaps that align with current and future product developments and business objectives.
Engage with other Group Technology teams to ensure alignment and clear communication.
Team Management and Development: Maximise team potential by fostering a positive work culture and enhancing productivity.
Develop team capabilities, including managing offshore resources, and take responsibility for performance management, professional growth, and team development.
Process Improvement: Identify areas for improvement within current processes and empower teams to prioritise and implement changes.
Promote a culture of continuous enhancement and operational efficiency.
Compliance and Security: Uphold the integrity, security, and confidentiality of data systems.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including privacy and financial industry standards.
Documentation and Training: Maintain thorough documentation for all processes, systems, and roles.
Provide training and education to ensure teams are well-prepared to manage their responsibilities effectively.
Innovation and Standards: Cultivate a culture of innovation, encouraging the adoption of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.
Position HUB24 as a leader in technology within the industry.
Management Reporting: Prepare and deliver timely monthly reports on key areas, including team capacity, practices, standards, operations, and strategic initiatives.
Track performance metrics and technical debt backlogs, providing insights and updates to leadership.
Financial Management: Assist in managing budgets and cost centres related to technology operations, ensuring financial accountability and efficiency.
Incident Management: Minimise risks and manage incident resolution within areas of responsibility.
Serve as the escalation point during incidents, ensuring quick response and mitigation.
Conduct post-incident reviews and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
Architecture Alignment: Align business, application, data, and technology initiatives with the group's architectural models.
Utilise appropriate technology options (e.g., high code, Out Systems, Databricks, UIPath, Power BI) to meet project requirements and outcomes.
Leadership Support: Provide strategic and operational support to the CPTO and Group General Manager, Technology, assisting with high-level initiatives and decision-making.
Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer/Software Engineering or equivalent.
MBA or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field (desirable).
Demonstrated experience leading and inspiring technology teams, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven ability to build and support high-performing data and software engineering teams.
Experience working in hybrid cloud environments (GCP, AWS ecosystems) is valued.
Experience guiding teams working on low-code platforms like Out Systems and UIPath is beneficial.
Strong understanding of software engineering lifecycles with a focus on collaboration and innovation.
Proficient in data modelling, data governance, security, privacy, and compliance, fostering a culture of data integrity.
General knowledge of financial market operations and the financial platform industry.
Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on thoughtful analysis and creative solutions.
Ability to think conceptually and strategically, using a collaborative approach to technology planning.
Awareness of regulatory and compliance requirements in financial services (e.g., ISO27001, GS007, ASAE 3402, CPS230, CPS234), with a commitment to ethical practices.
Understanding of data privacy and security regulations, promoting a secure and transparent environment.
A flexible and supportive approach to out-of-hours support when needed.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with a focus on building positive relationships and fostering team well-being.
