Branch / State Manager (sydney, Australia)

This role requires a confident leader who understands freight at a practical level and isn't afraid to roll up their sleeves to get things done.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the daily operations of the Sydney branch, ensuring efficient and compliant freight forwarding services across air freight, sea freight, and logistics services.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across customer service, operations, and administration, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
• Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, building strong relationships and resolving operational issues promptly.
• Monitor and report on branch KPIs, financial performance, and compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
• Identify opportunities for operational enhancements, cost savings, and service improvements, implementing best practices across the branch.
• Support sales and business development initiatives to drive growth and expand our client base.
Who We're Looking For
• Minimum 5–10+ years' experience in international freight operations
• Previous management experience with P&L responsibility in logistics/freight forwarding
• Understanding & experienced in LCL consolidation
• Demonstrated success in team leadership and branch operations
• Practical understanding of freight systems, with Cargo Wise experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of Australian customs procedures and international trade regulations
• A hands-on, accountable approach with strong organisational and peoplemanagement skills
• Strategic thinking and commercial acumen — you're client-first and growth-minded
