Director Maritime Environmental Emergencies Response (MEER) & PortsWork Type: Permanent - Full TimeDrive Change, Connect CommunitiesThe Maritime Directorate is responsible for managing the vast Western Australian (WA) coastline and facilitating the safe and sustainable use of navigable waters.
Our responsibilities include management of Shipping and Pilotage Ports, oceanographic data collection, coastal management, strategic planning, and the design and delivery of boating infrastructure.
We also manage maritime facilities, maritime environmental emergencies, and operational initiatives, ensuring the enhancement of the WA coast and safe use of navigable waters.Maritime's purpose is to provide and enable safe, accessible and sustainable use of navigable waters and to collaboratively plan, drive and deliver best practice in maritime development and management for the economic and social prosperity of Western Australia.Maritime uses a Collaborative management model working across the Transport Portfolio, other State Government Agencies and Local Government, along with Port Authorities, Maritime related businesses in the delivery of services to the community.The OpportunityWe are seeking a highly experienced individual to lead our MEER and Ports teams.In this multi-faceted and engaging role, you and your team will spearhead the strategic development and implementation of the Maritime Environmental Emergency Response Program.
By collaborating with stakeholders across Western Australia, you will ensure robust arrangements are established to enhance preparedness and response capabilities during maritime incidentsYou will also perform the functions of Harbour Master which is responsible for the oversight of shipping operations in Shipping and Pilotage Act ports throughout the Pilbara and Gascoyne.
These ports move high volume exports of Iron Ore, Salt and LNG.
