Primary objective
Supports and provides collaborative, appropriate, proficient, coordinated direct and indirect clinical care for complex client presentations, including working with and alongside less experienced nursing and midwifery staff, within the specialty area.
Context statement
This position requires well developed knowledge, skills, and experience with adult and paediatric patients with a wide range of health conditions.
The successful applicant will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Aboriginal specific and culturally appropriate services are provided, must be willing to participate in a 24/7 on call roster, and hold a NT manual drivers licence.
Key duties and responsibilities

Apply specialist knowledge, skills, attributes and abilities within a defined practice area in therapeutic and professional relationships with individuals, as well as with families, groups and communities.

Accountable for providing sound professional advice and for assessment, planning, review, evaluation and coordination of comprehensive client care and/or case management within the speciality area.

Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.

Selection criteria
Essential

Current registration with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia or eligible for same.
Demonstrated highly developed clinical knowledge and skills in a relevant area of nursing/midwifery relating to this vacancy, supporting well developed clinical decision-making and problem solving to achieve best practice healthcare outcomes.
Demonstrate and promote a learning environment through clinical support, instruction, and feedback including mentoring students, graduates and less experienced staff across the multidisciplinary team.
Experience contributing to the development and implementation of local/regional policy, including interpreting established professional precedents and organisational policies and supporting change management.
Demonstrated use of effective communication skills to influence and convince staff and/or clients, including on sensitive matters requiring tact and diplomacy.
Demonstrates well-developed knowledge and understanding of the social and cultural issues, influences and sensitivities that influence health care provision for clients and families.

Desirable

Graduate Certificate beyond entry-to-practice relevant to specialty area.

The preferred or recommended applicant will be required to hold a current working with children clearance notice and undergo a criminal history check.
A criminal history will not exclude an applicant from this position unless it is relevant to the position.
This role carries specific immunisation requirements.
To be eligible for appointment you will be required to meet the immunisation requirements associated with Category A healthcare worker (direct contact with blood or body substances).
