AEMO's purpose is to ensure safe, reliable and affordable energy today, and enable the energy transition for the benefit of all Australians.
Australian governments are now committed to a net zero economy for Australia by 2050 and our vision is to enable this.
We have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to co-design the future of our energy systems, and our core values revolve around character, commitment, and connection.
Join us as we contribute to this significant transition in the energy sector.
About the role AEMO's Market Management group includes the metering, settlement and prudential functions for gas and electricity markets spanning the NEM, WEM and east coast gas.
As part of the broader Operations division, the Market management team is focused on building and operating systems and processes to receive and validate meter data, generate timely and accurate settlement statements, settle markets and monitor prudential positions.
The team is also engaged in supporting the delivery of significant energy market reform initiatives.
What you will be doing The Senior Commercial / Regulatory Analyst role sits within the Prudentials team with primary accountabilities that include: Consulting with internal and external stakeholders and market participants to influence process design and the delivery of operational tools to enhance the efficiency of the Prudentials function.
Report writing and support to AEMO written regulatory submissions and market consultation.
Ability to represent and present AEMO positions at industry forums.
Ensuring internal operational processes are aligned and executed in accordance with market rules and production cycles.
Contributing to industry reform projects through interpretation of market rules and design of systems and processes.
Communication and connection are key, as you will collaborate with internal stakeholders and serve as a key contact for industry participants regarding prudentials and rule-based queries.
What you will bring to the role Mandatory minimum degree qualification in economics, commerce, finance, or information systems.
Relevant work experience in the Energy industry, including experience in related industries such as utilities, with a focus on Commercial, Regulatory, or Legal areas.
Strong written interpretation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze and articulate conclusions from data and rule inputs.
Experience operating in a legal, compliance, and rules-based environment.
Understanding of energy market structures such as NEM, WEM, or gas markets, with knowledge of settlement or prudentials processes as an advantage.
You will be a confident communicator and proactive learner, committed to operational excellence, with a passion for collaborative problem solving and contributing to a high-performing team.
In return, some of our benefits include: Flexible working options: work from home, part-time, job share, hybrid, and additional leave options.
Professional development through projects, industry networks, job rotation, study assistance, and more.
Up to 4 days of volunteering leave per year.
Annual performance bonuses (subject to eligibility).
Wellness programs, discounted health insurance, gym perks, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
