The Role: The automation team, within the Technology Department, is accountable for ensuring that systems, which control operational manufacturing equipment and devices, are configured, adjusted and monitored in accordance with the production and engineering teams requirements.
The Automation team, works closely with Production and Engineering stakeholders to identify requirements, design and plan the work; ensuring that all systems are operating effectively and efficiently in support the Brownes manufacturing business objectives.
Brownes is a manufacturing plant, currently operating across two sites at Balcatta and Brunswick.
The role will require flexible working hours, to ensure maximum availability and utilisation of the manufacturing equipment. Role Responsibilities: Plan, manage, monitor and maintain all Control System hardware, software and devices across Brownes sites.
Ensure that all stakeholders voices are incorporated into planning.
Work with a team of automation engineers to translate business processes into actionable automation controls, and ensure that the systems are maintained appropriately and processes sustainable Communicate with Senior Managers and Executives about the status and progress of work packages, escalate critical issues effectively and rapidly Develop and maintain a collection of policies, procedures, and design patterns to drive standardisation of automation across Brownes manufacturing equipment Provide technical guidance and support to Brownes Operations Engage in configuration, development and monitoring of automation solutions as required.
Work with Operations to develop a Business Continuity Process should automation become unavailable or equipment malfunction Work closely with Engineering to assess the suitability of new equipment and contribute to the selection and Provide Electrical, Mechanical and Automation support to Brownes Operations assisting with breakdowns Provide technical support to process control in the creation of Brownes products Develop continual improvement processes to reduce downtime Coordinate with manufacturing and maintenance planned downtime to correctly service equipment Assist with developing the optimum spares levels across sites Identify and select Control System infrastructure and software that needs to be replaced or refreshed, and build a business case as required Ensure that all equipment has sufficient spares and that spares are of required quality Build and maintain relationships with the equipment suppliers Requirements: You must have full working rights in Australia Essential is an Electrical trade qualified with current unrestricted electrical licence Associate Diploma or degree in Electronic Engineering or Process Control Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience Proficient in a variety of PLC, SCADA, Servo Drives, Communication systems, Instrumentation Preferred experience with Citect SCADA.
Schneider, AB, OMRON, Siemens PLC and HMIMS Office skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Possess strong numeracy skills.
Good organisation and time management skills.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) or similar industries There will be a requirement to work flexible hours and be on call as and when required to give maximum efficiency and uptime to the manufacturing equipment.
Ideal applicant would have: Experienced Industrial Electrician with skills in maintaining Automated processes.
Extensive experience as a breakdown/shift Electrician in production environment with proven problem solving skills under pressure.
Willingness and ability to learn new skills and adapt to unexpected problems to find solutions.
