Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, Australia Uniting NSW Full time
Community Connector (Youth Focus) – Part Time (20 hours per week) 12-Month Fixed Term Contract Location: Nambucca Heads, NSW Empower young voices.
Build community connections.
Create real change.
About Becoming U – Nambucca Valley Becoming U is a youth-focused, place-based initiative supported by Uniting, working with and within the Nambucca Valley community to create opportunities, build partnerships, and improve outcomes for young people.
Together, we're building pathways where youth voices lead the way in shaping the community's future.
About Uniting At Uniting, our purpose is simple yet powerful: to inspire people, enliven communities, and confront injustice.
Guided by our values – Compassionate, Respectful, Imaginative and Bold – we stand alongside people at every stage of life, challenging disadvantage and championing inclusion.
We welcome all people regardless of age, ability, ethnicity, faith, sexuality or gender identity, and we take active steps to ensure children and young people are safe and supported.
The role As the Community Connector (Youth Focus), you'll work alongside the Community Impact Strategy Coordinator and other local connectors to build a strong, representative youth voice in the Nambucca Valley.
Your mission is to ensure young people's ideas, aspirations, and perspectives shape local initiatives, community decision-making, and the region's future vision.
This is a facilitation role, not a directing one.
You'll empower young people to take the lead—whether through youth collectives, advisory councils, or grassroots projects—and create opportunities for them to influence real change.
You will:

Coordinate and support a local youth leadership platform, ensuring it's inclusive, accessible, and youth-led
Mentor and encourage young people to design and lead their own initiatives
Strengthen partnerships with schools, community groups, and local organisations
Develop training, resources, and events to embed youth voice across the community
Foster understanding of youth-led principles among volunteers, mentors, and stakeholders
Create safe, culturally respectful, and supportive spaces for youth participation
About you We're looking for someone who is:

Passionate about youth empowerment and community-led change
Skilled in facilitation and relationship-building with young people from diverse backgrounds
Experienced in youth engagement, community work, or education (formal qualifications welcomed but not essential)
Respectful and culturally aware, particularly in working alongside First Nations young people and communities
Organised, adaptable, and able to juggle multiple initiatives
A confident communicator who can inspire trust and bring people together
What's on offer

Part-time role – 20 hours per week
12-month fixed term contract
Based in Nambucca Heads
The chance to be part of a grassroots, community-led initiative with real impact
A supportive, values-driven team within one of Australia's most respected not-for-profit organisations
Opportunities for professional development and growth
If you believe in the power of young people to shape the future—and you're ready to help make it happen—this role is for you.
Apply today Join us in amplifying youth voices and creating a stronger, more connected Nambucca Valley.
Please include a cover letter with your CV and apply through the job portals.
