Range excludes 15.4% employer super contribution The role of the Manager in the Compensation Processing team in COBM is to lead the investigation and finalisation of CDDA claims.
The team undertakes research and analysis to produce investigative reports that will inform recommendations on whether an application for compensation should be approved.
A manager in COBM can expect to be deployed across a range of functions in response to business needs.
The main duties of the roles include, but are not limited to: Leading, managing and building team capacity through coaching and performance feedback of geographically dispersed teams working in a regulatory environment.
Managing the team's workload and setting priorities to ensure quality outputs and operational outcomes are achieved in line with the department's business plan.
Coordinating and providing accurate specialist advice on instructional material and policy information in the Cargo Operations Pathway.
Utilising departmental systems to maintain accurate electronic records for investigation and tracking purposes.
Reviewing investigation outcomes and legal briefs to ensure content accuracy and consistency in decision making in line with the summary findings.
Designing and developing reports to present to the executive and other internal stakeholders.
Reviewing and registering new CDDA claims.
Providing advice on operational practices to the Legal Division.
Communicating, consulting with and maintaining relationships and networks with key stakeholders.
Representing the section and branch at meetings involving other areas of the department.
Promoting and ensuring compliance with departmental Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Rehabilitation policies and guidelines, and being alert for and reporting risks to local management and WHS.
Promoting, modelling and ensuring adherence to APS Values, Employment Principles and Code of Conduct.
Please note that this recruitment process will initially be used to fill two vacancies in the section .
The merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.
What we are looking for Knowledge and experience The successful applicants will have: Knowledge of (or the capacity to quickly acquire) the principles of administrative law, relevant legislation and regulatory practice including the Scheme for Compensation for Detriment caused by Defective Administration (CDDA).
Experience in investigating claims or incidents, analysing evidence and data and reporting on outcomes.
Experience in leading, managing and supporting staff including effective coaching and mentoring.
Experience setting priorities, ensuring quality outputs and managing a team with competing workloads.
A sound knowledge of (or the capacity to quickly develop an understanding of) relevant legislation, policies and guidelines in an operational context.
Experience in managing and developing relationships with stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals while responding to stakeholder needs and expectations.
Eligibility and other requirements The successful applicant must note that they may be required to perform occasional out-of-hours and weekend work.
