Facilities Manager

Future You is partnering with Campus Living Villages at Griffith University, Gold Coast, to find a dedicated Facilities Manager.
This role involves managing maintenance and operations for a historic 3-story building and preparing for the transition to a new 11-story purpose-built asset next year.
Key Responsibilities:
Hands-On Maintenance: Perform repairs such as carpentry, plumbing, and general building maintenance, leading the handyman and overseeing contractors.
Asset Oversight: Manage the asset lifecycle, including the transition to the new building.
Contractor Management: Oversee external service providers, ensuring contract performance and safety compliance.
Safety and Risk Management: Implement safety plans and ensure compliance in a construction environment.
Team Coordination: Support the handyman and coordinate maintenance activities.
Problem Solving: Address challenges of managing an older building while preparing for new construction.
Resident Satisfaction: Ensure the building remains functional, safe, and meets resident needs.
Skills and Experience:
Strong hands-on maintenance skills in carpentry, plumbing, and general repairs.
Leadership experience managing small teams and contractors.
Physical capability to perform manual work.
Experience with asset management systems.
Problem-solving skills in dynamic environments.
Previous facilities management experience, preferably in residential or campus settings.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Preparedness to oversee a transition to a new building.
