
Director Of Sales

The Director of Sales is responsible for overseeing sales across all 1834 Hotels managed properties.
The core objectives include driving business growth, achieving and exceeding budget revenue expectations, developing and supporting sales talent, managing client relationships across all market segments, and identifying strategic sales opportunities across the portfolio.
This role requires a strategic, hands-on leader who can : Actively manage key accounts while leading a small team Grow relationships across corporate, MICE, leisure, wholesale, and trade markets.
Work in a cross functional manner with adjacent teams of Revenue, Marketing, Operations, and Property General Managers to deliver integrated sales strategies that generate commercial results.
A key component of this role is the development and implementation of a scalable sales support framework that empowers 1834 Hotels' network of properties to activate and execute local sales initiatives effectively.
This includes the creation of SOPs, sales toolkits, best practice guides, and property-level training resources to support General Managers and on-site teams in driving revenue.
Key Responsibilities Manage and grow corporate, MICE, leisure, wholesale, and inbound sales segments across all properties.
Drive new business development and secure strategic sales opportunities for regional and metro properties.
Develop, implement, and monitor property and group-wide sales plans aligned to revenue targets.
Work with hotel leadership to develop tailored sales strategies that support and align with each property's business plan, ensuring sales activity is locally relevant and commercially effective.
Build and maintain strong industry and client relationships to maximise repeat business and conversion.
Work closely with property General Managers and sales staff to support localised initiatives and provide guidance.
Propose and execute tactical campaigns in collaboration with Revenue and Marketing teams.
Design and roll out a sales SOP and hotel-level sales support framework, including local blitz planning, outreach guidance, and strategic activation resources.
Deliver group-wide and tailored training to improve local sales capabilities across the network.
Manage OTA and third-party supplier relationships, including offers and visibility opportunities.
Attend industry events and trade shows to represent 1834 Hotels and build market presence.
Coordinate quarterly sales meetings and lead regular sales reporting cycles.
Oversee RFP submissions, tender responses, and corporate negotiations.
Work closely with global franchise brand teams to support the sales function at franchised properties.
Support the engagement, management, and performance of third-party agencies utilised across the network.
Work closely with key external connected partners including Qantas, Luxury Escapes, Booking.com, Amadeus and Siteminder.
Above all, we work with strategic sales & distribution collaborators to maximise exposure and revenue for the portfolio.
Manage a team of 3 direct reports; provide leadership, mentoring, and performance feedback.
Support and train sales personnel at property level to improve skills and results.
Collaborate with the wider 1834 Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Revenue teams.
Reporting & Analysis Provide monthly Sales Analysis Reports and performance summaries to senior leadership.
Prepare detailed insights and improvement recommendations based on sales metrics.
Conduct competitor benchmarking and adjust strategies as required.
Key Performance Indicators Delivery of monthly and quarterly sales reporting and insights.
Achievement of property-specific and portfolio-wide revenue targets.
Growth of key accounts and acquisition of new high-value clients.
Successful implementation of tactical sales initiatives and campaigns.
Performance management and development of direct reports.
Uptake and impact of local sales support tools and training across properties.
Skills & Experience Required Extensive experience in hotel or hospitality sales management at a senior level.
Proven ability to manage national accounts and lead sales campaigns across multiple markets.
Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
Experience developing training tools, SOPs, or scalable support models.
Deep understanding of sales data, CRM systems, and hotel performance metrics.
Ability to travel regularly to support properties and attend industry events.
High level of autonomy, initiative, and commercial acumen.
