About the role.
As Distributor Manager QLD, you'll take full ownership of Mc Cain's Foodservice partnerships with our largest distributor customers across Queensland.
You'll be on the road frequently, meeting customers face-to-face, building strong, long-term relationships, and ensuring Mc Cain is their preferred supplier.
This is a field-based, Queensland-based role, with regular travel to customer sites and distributor branches across the state.
Please note: This is a Queensland-based, field-based role requiring frequent travel across the state for face-to-face customer engagement.
Candidates must be based in Queensland and able to travel as needed.
What you'll be doing.· State-Level Account Management: Directly manage high-volume Foodservice customers (Bidfood, Countrywide, Nafda, PFD, Superior, Campbell's, and Independent Foodservice) at both state and branch/site levels.· Frequent face-to-face customer engagement: Travel regularly across Queensland to visit distributor branches and key customer sites, strengthening relationships and driving business results.· Major account negotiation: Lead commercial negotiations with high-profile customers, ensuring mutually beneficial agreements and sustainable growth.· Strategic Execution: Collaborate with National Customer Managers and Field Managers to develop and execute business plans that deliver on sales volume, NSV, and gross margin targets, aligned with annual business strategies.· Business Planning & Promotion: Develop, implement, and monitor strategic business plans, promotions, and product launches to grow Mc Cain's brand presence and market share across all distributor customers in QLD.· Customer & Team Communication: Maintain regular communication with customers and the sales team regarding stock, pricing, claims, and overall performance.
Ensure the field team is aligned with Mc Cain's direction and strategy.· Reporting & Compliance: Complete internal and external business reviews, prepare reports, and ensure all processes adhere to Mc Cain policies, procedures, and code of conduct.
Efficiently manage trade spend and process customer claims within agreed timelines.· Field Engagement: Support joint business planning and ensure continuity of supply for both directly and indirectly managed customers.· Expense Management: Manage expenses in line with company policy, ensuring prompt and accurate processing of claims.· Market Leadership: Build strong relationships with distributor personnel to ensure Mc Cain is top of mind and the preferred supplier across the state.
What you'll need to be successful.· 5+ years' sales experience, ideally within the Foodservice industry, with a proven ability to manage major customer relationships and negotiate high-value deals.· Demonstrated success in building and sustaining strong customer partnerships through regular in-person engagement.· Flexibility and motivation to travel frequently across Queensland for face-to-face customer meetings.· Experience in developing and executing sales strategies, business planning, and achieving commercial targets.· Strong commercial acumen, including financial literacy, data analysis, and business insight.· Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence both customers and internal teams.· High attention to detail, strong numeracy and literacy skills, and the ability to analyse business performance to drive improvement.· Autonomous, self-motivated, and collaborative, with a passion for food and a commitment to embodying Mc Cain's values.· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point); experience with Salesforce, Power BI, SAP, and EDW is advantageous.· Knowledge of manufacturing and/or agriculture is beneficial.
About the team.
As Distributor Manager, you'll report to the Business Manager and be part of the Foodservice ANZ commercial team.
You'll work alongside a close-knit group of six Distributor Managers across Australia and New Zealand—your direct peers—each responsible for their own state or territory.
Indirectly, you'll collaborate with Field Managers and teams in SA and WA, supporting the local field sales reps and ensuring success across your region.
While you won't have direct reports, you'll play a key role in cross-functional leadership, connecting with both the state-based team and national colleagues, and contributing to the ongoing growth and innovation of the Foodservice business.
