Position Description:

We are looking for a Mining and Energy Research Associate, responsible for providing support to the Lead Analyst. The incumbent is primarily responsible for coordinating research activities (e.g., compiling research for daily packs, updating models and client visits) and working with Senior Analysts on research projects and client requests. The incumbent will also assist in fundamental research through deep dives on industry thematics and analysing news. An associate should view their role as an integral part of the team's success. Effective teamwork contributors; actively generate ideas for the teams development; communicate issues that require action; support each other and ask for help when needed.

Key Areas of Responsibilities:
Assist Senior Analysts on specific research projectsCollect data and compile answers for clients requestsUpdate and help develop financial modelsMaintain databases of economic and industry specific dataAccompany clients on visits and produce notesMaintain sound working relationships with Corporates, Clients, the Government, and industry organizations

Requirements:
Bachelor degree or above in business or a mining technical related discipline (such as geology or engineering), preferably with a finance and/or accounting specialisation2-7 years' experience as a research associate. Alternatively investment banking or specific industry experience in energy related fields such as mining, oil & gas, renewables or utilities would be an advantage.Strong analytical skillsStrong understanding of financial modellingStrong excel/ spreadsheet skillsAttention to detailAbility to work under pressure when requiredExcellent interpersonal sensitivityHigh sense of commercial awarenessExcellent communication, relationship and management skills to both internal and external clientsExperience with Python is an advantage
