Social Media Intern

Warrandyte Basketball Association Inc. proudly runs basketball programs across three different competitions. Each year, approximately 600 players of varying ages and abilities form more than 70 teams representing Warrandyte Basketball.

Our Mission aims to promote the game of basketball within the local community and provide the opportunity for players to leave, develop and enjoy the game within a safe and encouraging environment.

We offer a pathway for our players to progress from junior basketball to a semi-professional competition.

We foster strong family and community connections, provide a place to participate for all skill levels, and focus heavily on establishing and maintaining a good club culture.

Social Media Intern

Reporting to the Club President, this role will work closely with the Club to support their planning and execution of the social media strategy. This is an ideal university practicum placement opportunity for students studying media, communications and/or digital content.

Accountabilities:

• Support the Club with executing the communications and social media strategy
• Managing communication channels as well as the creation of communication assets
• Promoting club activity and events through leverage of communication channels
• Working with corporate partners to maximise sponsorship activities
• Collaborate with Club staff and Committee to promote events through digital platforms
• Proactively seek out opportunities, craft, and publish original written and video content
• Present at Big V, VJBL and EDJBA games across the weekend

Your Background:

Ideally you:

• Have a passion for basketball and promoting community sports
• Are currently studying communications/ digital media or related field
• Have experience working with social media platforms, web design and database leveraging
• Able to build relationships and manage key stakeholders
• Have excellent organisation skills with an ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• This can include weekend / evening work with attendance at Big V, VJBL and EDJBA games
